Meatballs and Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of Ground Chuck
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 head of Cabbage
  • 2 cans of Tomato soup
  • 2 (or more) tablespoons chopped of Onion
  • 2/3 cup of Minute rice
  • 2 cups of Water
  • 1 teaspoon of Salt
  • dash Pepper
  • Rye bread or soda crackers for serving

Steps

  1. Season the meat.
  2. Add onion, rice, and egg to the meat.
  3. Mix the meat, onion, rice and egg together.
  4. Roll the meat mixture into balls about 4 cm in diameter.
  5. Cut the cabbage into 4 or 5 sections.
  6. Place the cabbage in a pot with meatballs between the sections.
  7. Pour tomato soup and water over the cabbage and meatballs.
  8. Cover and simmer on low for about an hour. Check occasionally to make sure it is not sticking to the pot.
  9. Serve with soda crackers or rye bread.
